TV One's gift this Mother's Day is "Chasing Waterfalls"

TV One's Original Movie, 'Chasing Waterfalls'

TV One is known for putting a modern day twist on Bible stories. From 'To Hell and Back' and 'The Book of Ruth', this Mother's Day (May 8 at 7 p.m. ET) they are bringing another powerful biblical story, Chasing Waterfalls. Inspired by the Book of David and featuring, Drew Sidora (CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story, The Game, Sister Code) in her first leading role, TV One's latest film is truly relatable and is sure to inspire the entire family.

With a modern day setting and a cut-throat, high-fashion twist, Chasing Waterfalls tells the story of a God-fearing, young woman named, Olivia (Drew Sidora) who finds her success as a fashion designer while working for Salma Barrie (Jasmine Guy, A Different World) and during her rise to the top, she is brought down by greed and power, but is given a second chance.

The cast in the film was simply outstanding and were able to sink their teeth into the characters that they played.

The film stars a couple of talented, seasoned actors who are no strangers to television. Tim Reid (Sister, Sister) plays Quincy, Olivia’s elderly father. Jasmine Guy (A Different World) is Salma Barrie, a tough clothing line owner. Also starring in the film is Redaric Williams (The Young and the Restless), Joyful Drake (Let's Stay Together), Kisa Willis, and Kelly Price (Recording Artist, R&B Divas).

"Doing this film was very challenging, but at the same time, working with the cast such as Redaric, Joyful, the wonderful Jasmine Guy and Kisa was great. We all really felt like family and hopefully viewers can see the chemistry play out, because it made our job very, very easy," said Sidora.

This film illustrates TV One’s brand promise to represent all facets of Black culture. Directed by Ryan Richmond and written by Rhonda F. Baraka, Chasing Waterfalls was brilliantly crafted.

"The thing I really love about these stories and working with TVOne is, we have an opportunity to present Bible inspired stories, Bible inspired messages of redemption and faith, along with the trials and tribulations that may come with trying to live your life a certain way and the things you learn along the way. These are universal messages and things that we hope people can latch on to." said Baraka.

Drew Sidora wants viewers to know that this film is all about inspiring viewers.

"This film is very inspiring and right on time because of Mother's Day. My character, Olivia is a dreamer and I hope that this movie inspires young people to dream again through all the mistakes they make or may have made, they will know they can get a second chance at life," said Sidora.

With drama, fashion and romance as the driving force, Chasing Waterfalls is sure to teach viewers about faithfulness, obedience, forgiveness and God's grace.

An encore presentation of Chasing Waterfalls will air immediately after the premiere on TV One Sunday, May 8 at 9 p.m. ET. For more information about Chasing Waterfalls visit http://tvone.tv/32205/about-chasing-waterfalls/.
