REVIEW: 'Long Shot' is UNDENIABLY FUNNY

Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen in Long Shot (2019)

Synopsis: Fred Flarsky (Seth Rogen) is a gifted and free-spirited journalist with an affinity for trouble. Charlotte Field (Charlize Theron) is one of the most influential women in the world. Smart, sophisticated, and accomplished, she’s a powerhouse diplomat with a talent for…well, mostly everything. The two have nothing in common, except that she was his babysitter and childhood crush. When Fred unexpectedly reconnects with Charlotte, he charms her with his self-deprecating humor and his memories of her youthful idealism. As she prepares to make a run for the Presidency, Charlotte hires Fred as her speechwriter, much to the dismay of her trusted advisors. A fish out of the water on Charlotte’s elite team, Fred is unprepared for her glamorous lifestyle in the limelight. However, sparks fly as their unmistakable chemistry leads to a round-the-world romance and a series of unexpected and dangerous incidents.

From the celebrated team of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, creators of outrageous comedy hits including THIS IS THE END and NEIGHBORS, LONG SHOT also features O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Den of Thieves, Straight Outta Compton), Andy Serkis (Black Panther, Planet of the Apes), June Diane Raphael (The Disaster Artist, Grace & Frankie), Ravi Patel (TV’s Master of None) and Alexander Skarsgård (TV’s Big Little Lies and The Legend of Tarzan). The film was directed by Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies).

Review: Long Shot was ridiculously funny! Going in, we weren't too sure about the chemistry Seth Rogan and Charlize Theron would have on camera since their characters become romantic. We at THAheadline are happy to say, although the two play mismatched lovers, they have real chemistry on camera. This film is a true political campaign-set rom-com that men and women both can enjoy! The movie had a dash of everything; comedy, love, raunchiness, friendship, and real-world events all wrapped up into one. Finding laughs in a film that tackles the current global events seems to be a tough challenge, but Long Shot manages to spin it and makes it warm-hearted with a comedic edge. Hopefully, the film doesn't get lost in the Avengers: End Game craze, because Rogen and Theron shined and this movie is a must see.

The film is set to release on May 3, 2019, in theaters nationwide.
